Retin A cream is usually prescribed medication for the treatment of Acne. It is a Vitamin A derivative that is most commonly used for the treatment of acne vulgaris, acne scar treatment, and sun-damaged skin. This medication can be used by women and man. Retino A cream decreases number and severity of acne pimples and improves quick healing of pimples that do develop. It decreases the appearance of fine wrinkles and spotted skin discoloration, and to make skin smoother. This medication belongs to a class of retinoid. The retinoid works by entering the cell by diffusion and is transported from the cytoplasm to the nucleus by cellular retinol-binding proteins (CRBP) or by cellular retinoic acid-binding proteins (CRABP).

What are the drug interactions of Retin-A cream?

Do not use following medication along with Retin A cream Demeclocycline, Doxycycline, Fleroxacin, Fluphenazine, Gemifloxacin, Hydrochlorothiazide, Indapamide, Levofloxacin, Bendroflumethiazide, Chlorothiazide, Chlorpromazine, Chlorthalidone, Ciprofloxacin, Cyclopenthiazide.

Wash your hand and face before using this medication. Take required amount of cream using your finger then gently rub the cream on the affected area.

Some common side effects may appear while using this medication itching, redness, irritation, numbness, blister formation or crusting of the skin, peeling off, stinging of the skin, scaling of the skin, rashes, burning sensation on the area applied area.

  • Do not use this medication if you are allergic to vitamin A and any ingredients of Retin-A cream.
  • You should not use this medication if you are suffering from eczema.
  • While using his medication you should avoid prolonged exposure to sun tanning booths and sunlamps.
  • While using this medication use a sunscreen daily, and wear protective clothing when outdoors.
  • You should wait until your skin has completely recovered from sunburn before using Tretinoin.
  • You should not cover the affected area after applying this medication.
  • You should not use this medication to other parts of the body as it is topical preparation.
  • You should avoid electrolysis, waxing and chemical depilatories for hair removal on the treated areas while using Retin A cream.
  • Do not use this medication in the case of pregnancy and lactation as it can harm the baby.
